Opening Day

APRIL 6; CUBS (JENKINS) VS. EXPOS (TORREZ); SUNNY, 65 DEGREES; 40,273 PAID

Cubs 3 Expos 2—A single by Joe Pepitone, an error, and three walks accounted for the two-run ninth inning rally. The final walk to Rick Monday sent pinch runner Tony LaRussa (yes, that Tony LaRussa) home with the winning run. It marked Tony’s only appearance in a Cub uniform.

Former POW, Lieutenant Commander Robert Naughton, threw out the first pitch.

What’s New

The Cubs raised reserved grandstand and box seats prices 25 cents to $3.00 and $3.75 respectively. Still, the Cubs had the lowest priced box seats in the major leagues.
